1st nextlub conference

International Conference on Tribology and Sustainable Lubrication.

Process Industry, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies

Sustainability and ecological requirements pose challenges for society as a whole. This places demands on each individual industry, such as lubricant experts. But the hurdles in the industry are great: Although sustainable alternatives for tribological applications are being developed, it is difficult to bring these technologies to market. The reasons include the high cost for the evaluation and approval of new products as well as requirements for reliability and safety, but also simply a lack of experience. The 1st nextlub conference is aimed at closing these knowledge gaps and providing a platform for the appropriate innovative technologies.

Tribologists and lubrication experts, including experts from Freudenberg, will meet at this conference. They will present their expertise in developing individual product visions – from in-depth and personal technical advice to helpful online tools and even development itself. Industrial drive technology calls for special sealing solutions that can cope with constantly rising speed, internal pressure and temperature requirements. FST’s innovations thus ensure an extended life cycle for industrial gear units thanks to customized solutions and top material quality. This goal is also pursued by FST’s own Global Simmerring Engineering department. Here, the experts take a holistic view of the sealing system and examine the interaction of all components  involved (seal, surface and lubricant) in order to find the optimal sealing solution for every specific application – both in advance and after a damage/failure of the tribological system. Using the latest testing and measurement technology, analysis and evaluation procedures allow detailed statements to be made about the condition of all components of the sealing system. From the results of these analyses, the experts derive a hypothesis of the possible causes of failure and then verify this by either performing the appropriate tests or by way of simulations. The results are in-depth findings that lead to specific recommendations for action to optimize the sealing system – for an improved sealing function and a significantly longer service life.

Tuesday April 18, 5:00 pm: don´t miss to join the presentation of Christian Wilbs about "Radial Lip Seal Friction Torque – A suitable Lubricant- Elastomer Compatibility Indicator?"
