Meet the who-is-who of the hydrogen and fuel cell industry.

International Sealing Conference, ISC, Stuttgart, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, Simmerring, Radial Shaft Seal

Hydrogen – energy carrier of the future. In the minds of politicians, companies and society, hydrogen plays a key role in decarbonization, independence from fossil fuels and environmental protection – in other words, in the urgently needed energy turnaround. For more than 20 years, hy-fcell has been the industry meeting place for the international hydrogen and fuel cell community. This is where technological advances are discussed and knowledge shared. This year’s event will focus on fuel cell components, hydrogen production and infrastructure, and fuel cell systems, among other topics. Of course, the latest findings from research and development and other topics relating to hydrogen and fuel cells will also be on the agenda.

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies is also keeping a close eye on modern energy solutions: This is because the high demand and rapid expansion of production capacities for electrolysers and fuel cells in particular pose a host of challenges for many components in the stack, such as when it comes to seals: suitable sealing solutions and materials are needed for the switch from manual production to semi- or fully-automated production of high volumes. Also crucial: easy assembly and high safety as well as a long service life when in contact with very harsh and aggressive environments. In the case of electrolysers, for example, elastomer seals on the thermoplastic frame with an integrated seal direct the flow of gases and heat and compensate for manufacturing tolerances of the adjacent stack components. Through their integration, they facilitate handling, increase assembly speed and extend service life. In sealing solutions for fuel cell systems, specific elastomer seals at the gas diffusion layer prevent leakage and crossover, while effectively compensating for the tolerances of adjacent stack components and any thermal expansion/distortion. This also makes these sensitive devices suited for mass production.

Our colleagues from Freudenberg Performance Materials will join our booth and present their latest development in regard of gas diffusion layer and membrane reinforcement materials. According to last year also the experts from Freudenberg Filtration Technologies will be part of our team and present their new fuel cell filter and humidifier solutions.
