Hydrogen Technology Expo

Experts agree that the energy transition needs to pick up speed more quickly. They are pinning their hopes above all on the topic of hydrogen. Hydrogen Technology Expo is the world’s largest supplier fair for hydrogen technologies, materials, components and engineering solutions. The entire value chain will meet in Bremen to discuss solutions and innovations for low-carbon hydrogen production, efficient storage and distribution, and applications in a wide range of stationary and mobile applications. The high demand is what makes the topic of hydrogen and fuel cells so challenging.

This is because the associated expansion of production capacities, such as the switch from manual production to semi- or fully-automatic production of high volumes, requires specific sealing solutions and materials, for example – which is why the experts from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) will also be in Hamburg.

For example, integrated elastomer seals developed by FST on the thermoplastic frame in electrolysers direct the flow of gases and heat and compensate for manufacturing tolerances of the adjacent stack components. The advantage: easier handling, increased assembly speed and extended service life. In sealing solutions for fuel cell systems, FST has developed specific elastomer seals at the gas diffusion layer that prevent leakage and crossover while effectively compensating for the tolerances of adjacent stack components and any thermal expansion/distortion. Thus, nothing stands in the way of rapid expansion of production capacity, at least from a sealing perspective. 

At the booth, colleagues from Freudenberg Performance Materials will be present and showcase their latest developments in the field of gas diffusion layers and membranes for material reinforcement. Additionally, experts from Freudenberg Filtration Technologies will join and present their new fuel cell filter and humidifier.
