Advanced Seals for Maximum Protection of In-Wheel Motors

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies contributes to the development of in-wheel motors (IWM) with a patented seal design. Sealing Solutions from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies

We have developed two patented seal designs specifically for in-wheel motors. The key feature they share is the speed-dependent adjustment of the sealing performance and friction by means of a special geometry. The design is based on the anti-proportional behavior of speed and the ingress of dirt.

The seal lip is positioned so that it becomes increasingly detached from the contact surface or, optionally, lifts off completely as the centrifugal forces increase.
