Zero tolerance for errors

It’s not always easy to meet the standard of precisely fulfilling customer expectations and delivering 250,000 different items and 400 million seals per month at a high quality from more than 40 production facilities in 15 countries.  Karl-Heinz Westhoff’s task is to manage this diversity and provide stable processes for it.  In his view, two dimensions in particular are indispensable on the road to improved quality: the radical standardization of quality management as a higher-level process and the awareness of all employees that they are the bearers and executors of a comprehensive quality philosophy in their jobs at all times.  Westhoff, 56, is proud of the fact that he has made an important contribution to the trend in this direction – and to successes that are reflected in defect rates and extremely positive customer evaluations.
