Cooperative Partnership on an Innovative Butterfly Valve Seal

Together with our French customer Definox, we have developed a customized high-performance seal that is tailored to the demanding conditions of the process industry.

Definox needed a tailor-made butterfly valve seal to match its portfolio of high-performance valves for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and pet food industries. Based on its positive experience with O-rings made of our premium material 70 EPDM 291, the company immediately approached our experts.

Initially, butterfly valve seals with improved properties were developed by our experts – meeting the needs of the process industry. Then a wide range of tests began on our internal test bench under real conditions and with original Definox valves. Our team of experts was always on hand to provide the customer with advice and support during this process. The result: a unique butterfly valve seal with optimized properties for use in the process industry. In addition to its innovative design, it is made of wear-resistant and high-purity premium materials.

On the basis of this successful cooperation, a second phase of the project began with the gradual replacement of the butterfly valve seals in existing valve types with products from the Freudenberg portfolio.
