Freudenberg Showcases Accumulators, Materials and Service Expertise at 2017 OTC

Longstanding industry priorities, including superior functionality, system serviceability, operational safety and cost, have driven Freudenberg to develop materials, components and a field-service program that address the existing and future needs of oil and gas companies.
“We recognize the opportunity to assist our oil and gas customers in two ways: by helping them keep their existing systems working with cost-effective design solutions; and by developing new materials that address the emerging challenges of increasingly aggressive oil and gas environments,” said Kurt Ziminski, head of the Accumulator Division for Freudenberg Sealing Technologies. “We’ve dedicated our OTC exhibit to showcasing our accumulator expertise, new sealing materials and service solutions that directly address these opportunities.”
Advancing Accumulators
Freudenberg has decades of experience in the development and production of hydraulic accumulators for a variety of applications. Freudenberg Sealing Technologies’ Tobul products, for example, have long played a role in solving customers’ toughest off-shore technology challenges. Freudenberg hydraulic accumulators can be customized to address factors like physical size, fluid volume, working pressure, corrosion resistance and global certification requirements.
Freudenberg will showcase a variety of accumulators and product displays at its OTC booth (#1605). The company’s Accumulator Sensing Display, for example, offers visitors an interactive visualization that demonstrates how Freudenberg’s sensing technology interacts with accumulators to provide real-time information that can be used to monitor accumulator performance and necessary maintenance intervals.
In addition, a full range of piston, bladder, diaphragm and spring design accumulators will be on display. These heavy-duty industrial components have been designed and engineered for topside and subsea service with capacities of up to 200 gallons and operating pressures of up to 40,000 psi. The company’s material and product design capabilities also allow it to offer customers various membrane, sealing and housing options completely unique to their industrial applications.
Accelerating Field Service
Today’s oil and gas companies are often asked to respond to new industry needs with the same or fewer resources. In recognition of this challenging dynamic, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies continues to offer customers a global field service program that pairs Freudenberg field service personnel with customer personnel to maintain critical accumulator components in offsite and offshore equipment. The service program enables Freudenberg to provide immediate field assessments, minor repairs and certifications of accumulators. The company anticipates expanding its field service operations in the future.
Amplified Materials for the Oil and Gas Environment
Also at the OTC, Freudenberg Xpress® – the company’s rapid service for replacement parts, prototypes and small production runs – will showcase seals made of one of the highest quality materials in the world: the company’s exclusive, best-in-class polyurethane, 94 AU 30000. Developed primarily to handle aggressive environments, higher temperatures and longer operating hours, the 94 AU 30000 material is more resistant to water and synthetic hydraulic fluids and withstands major temperature fluctuations better than other existing polyurethane materials. The material offers excellent performance in heat and cold and can be used in mineral hydraulic fluids at temperatures ranging from -31°F (-35°C) up to 248°F (120°C).
The 2017 OTC in Houston is the largest oil and gas industry event in the world and features more than 2,300 exhibitors and attendees from 100 countries. The event, taking place May 1-4, is sponsored by 13 nonprofit organizations in the energy industry who collaboratively develop a technical agenda that facilitates exchanges of scientific ideas within the energy arena.
