Freudenberg Sealing Technologies at Battery Show Europe 2017

Weinheim (Germany), April 4, 2017 - As electric mobility catches on, the requirements that electric-vehicle batteries must face are increasing: Greater safety and output, a longer operating life and improved thermal management are some of the aspects that are in demand. Freudenberg engineers have anticipated this trend. For some time, they have worked on innovative products that offer solutions to these challenges.
E-Mobility

For years, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has positioned itself as one of the world’s leading specialists in innovative sealing solutions for many sectors, especially the auto industry. It is less known that the company also provides a wide range of products for the up-and-coming electric mobility sector. They include seals and fastening elements for fuel cells as well as pouch cells in lithium ion battery systems, along with products made of electric- and heat-insulating or conductive plastics for electric motors. The Freudenberg portfolio also includes robust flat gaskets and Plug & Seals for batteries with high power density and the associated need for cooling. Mechanical seals are required for electric motors, and Simmerrings remain indispensable to transmissions in electrically-propelled vehicles. That is why Freudenberg is continuing their development and has even equipped them with an electrically conductive nonwoven that prevents electrostatic charging inside the transmission thanks to clever functional integration. Finally, Freudenberg experts are working on new approaches to the simplified installation of battery systems while simultaneously reducing the number of components.
