Freudenberg Launches Expansion Into PTFE Aerospace Seal Production

The new PTFE seals round out the selection of aerospace component solutions that have been designed to meet exacting industry requirements. They leverage Freudenberg’s material and manufacturing expertise in offering aerospace customers access to standard and engineered components for a wide range of applications.

PTFE is widely used in applications where fluid compatibility and friction are of the utmost importance under low and high temperature conditions. It is especially useful in aerospace applications where temperature extremes, contact pressures and leakage control are crucial to the safe and efficient operation of an aircraft.

Freudenberg has supplied high-quality standard and specialty PTFE seals to fluid power, heavy industry, automotive and other markets for decades. By leveraging the material and testing expertise used in these industries, the company now offers aerospace customers standard PTFE back-up rings and engineered seals such as Omegat rod and piston seals, single and double acting scrapers, and spring energized U-cups.

The seals will be manufactured at the company’s Troy, Ohio, production facility and with the availability of an extensive array of rod and tube sizes covering a variety of product designs, Freudenberg is able to produce a broad range of PTFE solutions. The company formulates its own PTFE compounds to meet exacting material, design and production standards and also offers elastomeric aerospace materials to function in a range of applications including engines, gear boxes, flight controls, landing gear, wheels and brakes and airframes.

Freudenberg will display a variety of aerospace sealing solutions at its booth in Hall 5, #D266. In addition to PTFE seals, Freudenberg will showcase:
