Our portfolio on components addressing thermal management, temperature and pressure control, power densities and service improve the safety, reliability and range of electric vehicles. Our DIAvent® component, for example, offers intelligent pressure management solutions for large batteries in electric and hybrid vehicles. Specially developed heat shields for lithium-ion battery systems prevent the heat from “propagating” to neighboring cells when cells malfunction. The patented nonwovens they contain reliably ensure bi-directional pressure compensation even under extreme conditions.

E-Powertrain and Power Electronics in Passenger Cars

The electrification of mobility is driving change in the powertrain and increasing the use of power electronics. FST is poised to provide products that foster the increase of greater power densities through our thermal management materials and electro management interference (EMI) solutions. And as expectations of reliability continue to extend, so do our solutions to support it. Whether it is products that are electrically grounding or regulate a desired pressure in the system, FST has it.

As far as the drastically increasing shaft rotation speeds, we have options as well. Levitex and other low friction simmerrings. Our goal is to improve our customers’ systems’ efficiency. And as always, when fitting to innovate together.

    Topographic 3D Thermal Interface Material (TIM)

    The embedding and protection of heat sources is our goal here. Our materials are thermally conductive, but more than just that, we are capable of producing 3D topographic structures that address the complex thermomechanical interactions with such applications. They are designed to improve the thermal management of the circuit boards by thermally connecting it to the electronic housing.

Compared to competitive solutions, they are extremely resistant against vibration and offer excellent tolerance compensation. Furthermore, when an application requires it, sensing functions can be incorporated into this solution to offer even greater value.

    Cooling Cycle Tubes (And Flexible Materials)

    Our cooling cycle tubes offer freedom of design via ”customized” tubes for complex geometries. Flow resistance is greatly reduced due to the smooth inner surface of the tubes. Soft connectors can be integrated to improve NVH behavior. Integration of additional functions is also possible. Lastly, our parts are not susceptible to corrosion and offer higher tolerance due to the flexible nature of the product.

    D-rings, o-rings, gaskets, etc. We offer many different designs for use in this application. Furthermore, we have a standard off the shelf o-ring that is specially designed and formulated for this application.

    Our plastic housings and covers can be designed with adjustable EMI shielding performance and thus provide up to 40% reduction in weight. In addition, further integration is also possible via seals, gap fillers and breathing elements.

    The electrically conductive non-woven material from Freudenberg can solve the problem of electrical bearing corrosion. It forms a conductive bridge between the housing and the shaft and thus prevents electrical erosion inside the drive unit.

    In addition, the non-woven is able to support the shielding of the overall system in order to minimize radio noise or faulty data transmission of the BUS system.

    Our washers made of plastic greatly reduce weight and improve friction and thickness/flatness all without sacrificing the function provided by a conventional bearing solution. This solution reduces C02 emissions by 0.8g/km on average.
